Astor Hotel Sign, Albury

The Astor Hotel Sign, in Albury, illuminated at night, in black and white. PHOTO: Campbell Mattinson.

The last time I drove from Melbourne to Canberra – to help my son re-locate – I stopped overnight in Albury and stayed at the Astor Hotel. I stayed specifically at this hotel because of its mid-century design. The room are basic but then, it is mid-century. I wanted to take external pictures of the Astor Hotel – which of course I did – though my style demands bright sunlight and, alas, it was overcast. A night shot of the sign still appeals.
