Walking to work, Footscray

Way to work: Nicholson Street, Footscray, just after rain. PHOTO: Campbell Mattinson.

Wet roads and streets add a bit of special sauce to street photography. This image – of a walker in Nicholson Street, Footscray – was taken just after a heavy morning downpour. It helps that bright sun has just burst out too. I used to have an office in The Cottonmills, Footscray. There wasn’t any parking at the Cottonmills and there was no all-day parking nearby, so I’d park on the edge of Seddon and walk, camera in hand. There’s a natural cinematic quality to this image, which I like.
